Scientists Developing Breath Test to Diagnose Gastric Cancer

Endoscopy is the usual method for diagnosing gastric (stomach) cancer but researchers are hoping to provide a significantly less invasive and less expensive method of diagnosis of using a breath test. It was reported that in a recent study, a sensor was able to distinguish between different types of stomach cancer as well as other gastric conditions. The study was conducted by scientists from the Technion—Israel Institute of Technology in collaboration with researchers at the Anhui Medical University in China. It was published online on 5 March in the British Journal of Cancer.
